April 2024 Update

Humpty Dumpty had a great fall.

Spring apparently wasn’t bad either.

Wow March flew by! We hope everyone has had a chance to enjoy the warming weather and cherry blossoms these past couple of weeks. There are some important updates and reminders we wanted you to be aware of.

We wanted to remind everyone of our social media pages! We’ve been working hard to ensure that they have the most up-to-date information for you while showing our recent activities. If you have a picture or video from a class or event that you’d like us to post, please send it to Justin at justinf@soundgenerations.org. You can follow our Facebook page here and our Instagram here.

John will continue to temporarily provide the Ballard Senior Center with tech help. Unfortunately, due to his schedule, he will NOT be available to provide tech help at our program Mondays only until April 22nd. After that, he will be at our program Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Please see the calendar to the right for his complete schedule.

To ensure that our records are accurate, we will be continuing to ask that everyone fill out an updated contact form this month. We highly recommend providing an emergency contact for our records.

We have a lot going on this month at Lake City Seniors.

  • We are excited to announce a new Cards and Coffee Social Hour starting in April. Play card and board games while you enjoy coffee, snacks and socializing with others! We will hold Cards and Coffee Social Hour every Friday at 10am starting April 19th.
  • Silver Screeners are back! Join us for popcorn and a movie followed by a discussion with a volunteer from Scarecrow Video. This month’s movie will be The Princess Bride which will be shown April 8th at 1:30pm. The Princess Bride is filled with true love, pirates, sword fights, revenge, and Rodents of Unusual Size. Missing this screening would be inconceivable!
  • We will be holding Making Senior Meals Cooking and Nutrition Class on April 19th at 10am in Spanish, and April 29th at 1:30pm in English. Aidyn Stevens, who is an Americorp member serving with Hunger Intervention Program as the Senior Meals lead is teaching this class where participants will get to be hands on; learning senior nutrition and making a meal together. Come join and learn how to put together a nutritious meal and make Tarragon Pesto Pasta with Chicken.
  • Legal Planning Clinic The Dementia Action Collaborative will be holding a Legal Planning Clinic on Monday, April 29th by appointment. At this clinic you can get free one on one help with an attorney for legal matters such as Powers of Attorney for Finances, Powers of Attorney for Health Care, Health Care Directives, and Dementia Directives. To make an appointment please contact Jill at 425-780-5589. Space is limited and an appointment is required.
  • John will also be holding two tech classes this month. The first will be Organizing Email Accounts on April 12th at 10am. In this class you’ll learn how to organize your inbox and get around your email folders. We will discuss how to write new messages, delete old messages, unsubscribe from marketing emails, and how to block and report spam messages. On April 26th at 10am, he will cover Keeping Your Photos And Data Safe. Here you’ll learn how to keep your photos, files, and data safe so that you can access them if you ever lose your device or have to transfer them to a new device. We will talk about how back-ups work and how you can use cloud storage for easier access.

We’re excited to see everyone at the program! For more information on our programming, calendar, and lunch menu, please follow the links to the right.

Cheers!
