About Lake City Seniors

Our Story

The Lake City Seniors (LSC) uses a “without walls” model to bring intercultural senior center programming to North East Seattle. We began in the fall of 2015, after members of the community advocated through City Council to bring senior programs Lake City. We are a community partner site of Sound Generations. Our mission is to support people on their aging journey through community connections, access to services and resources, and empowering older adults to be socially engaged and live their best lives.
Lake City Seniors operates it’s senior center programming Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays 9am-3pm at the Lake City Community Center. Due to the pandemic we had moved all programming online through Zoom and other online platforms but have since started to offer classes in-person and a mix of virtual and in-person. We partner with Sea Mar Community Health Clinics (Sea Mar), LCS offers in-person programming in Spanish three times a week, making it the only site offering senior center programming in Spanish in North King County.

Lake City Seniors also collaborates with Chinese Information Service Center (CISC) to offer weekly programming in Mandarin and Cantonese, due to the pandemic this programming is still on hold. LCS offer a wide array of fitness classes, including chair yoga, tai chi, Latin dance, and EnhancedFitness, while also offering various educational talks, classes, and recreational activities such as watercolor painting, Mahjong, Bingo, film screenings, and much more.
We partner with Hunger Intervention Program to  offer free in-person to-go meals meal to seniors and anyone else in the community. We have also teamed up with HIP to offer lunch delivery to older adults throughout the NE Seattle.
