Why is February a frog’s favorite month?
It has a Leap Year!
We hope everyone has had a great start to the year. We have some programming updates that we wanted everyone to be aware of.
John will temporarily be providing the Ballard Senior Center with tech help. Unfortunately, due to his schedule, he will NOT be available to provide tech help at our program Mondays only in February. He will still be available Wednesdays and Fridays and will be teaching his tech classes.
We will now hold Bingo online over zoom as well as in person. If you wish to receive the zoom link each week, please email Justin at email@example.com or call Justin at 206-707-1865 and provide your email address. If you have participated in Bingo over the phone in the past, the previous number we used will no longer work.
A reminder that we will be closing for the Presidents Day Holiday. We will not hold any programming on February 19th. There will also be no meals served that day, so please plan accordingly.
We also wanted to highlight some of the events and programs this month:
• Silver Screeners are back! Join us for popcorn and a movie followed by a discussion with a volunteer from Scarecrow Video. This month’s movie will be Kedi which will be shown February 12th at 1:30pm. Kedi is an award-winning documentary feature that follows several stray cats living in Istanbul, and the people who take care of them. It will be shown in Turkish with English subtitles.
• Music and Mindfulness is back! It will now be held every Friday at 1:30pm.
• The Dementia Action Collaborative will be holding a Legal Planning Clinic on Monday, February 12th by appointment. At this clinic you can get free one on one help with an attorney for legal matters such as Powers of Attorney for Finances, Powers of Attorney for Health Care, Health Care Directives, and Dementia Directives. To make an appointment please contact Jill at 425-780-5589. Space is limited and an appointment is required.
• John will also be holding two Tech classes in February. On February 9th at 10:00am he will teach a class called Don’t Get Locked Out of Online Accounts. In this class you will learn how to set up accounts, like your email, so you don’t get locked out if you forget a password. We will discuss helpful settings you can use to prevent yourself from losing access to important services. On February 23rd at 10:00am he will give a class called How To Avoid Scams. Scams and data breaches can be stressful when you aren’t sure what exactly is going on. This class will help you learn how to recognize scams and what steps you can take to protect yourself and feel prepared.
We look forward to seeing you all at our program! For more information on our programming, calendar, and lunch menu, please follow the links below.
